Arriving to Mývatn in such beautiful weather was quite amazing. We put our tent up in Bjarg campsite and allowed ourselves to relax in the sun for a while. That evening we went to the nature baths and enjoyed the evening sun with a cold beer in the pool. There was no trouble hitchhiking up to the nature baths and back to the campsite.
Thursday morning we walked up to Stóragjá and across the lava over to Grjótagjá. The walk up there is stunningly beautiful, even though Grjótagjá is still too hot to bathe in. From Grjótagjá we hitchhiked down to Vogar where we had lunch out in the sun. After lunch we walked a bit around Vogar and had a look at the Vogar Cowshed Café. It was time for us to take down the tent and head to Húsavík, so we hitchhiked back to the camping site and got ready to leave.
Hitchhiking from Mývatn to Húsavík turned out to take a lot longer then we expected, but eventually a couple from Switzerland picked us up. We were on our way to Húsavík to visit the geothermal pools in that area.
